My artistic influences and where I draw inspiration
I create organic looking sculptures from a range of materials, such as found and recycled wood, as well as Driftwood. I sometimes combine the wood with other mediums like iron to create unique modern art pieces.
I like to fuse abstract shapes found in wood with human-like forms, or things like the subtle curves of a wild animal. I also enjoy making functional art pieces such as benches, stools, wine racks, tables and fruit bowls. I use my imagination to transform the hidden beauty of each piece of wood into art. I sold my first sculpture of a women carrying a child on her back (my mother) when I was a young boy and from there the journey started.
